The best HR and payroll software for a Malaysian SME depends on whether you want a cloud subscription or one-time local software. Malaysian payroll is not one percentage. EPF follows a schedule (Jadual Ketiga) with a different employer rate above and below the RM5,000 monthly wage threshold. SOCSO uses contribution bands by category. PCB has a published computerised formula with reliefs and year-to-date figures. Ask how a vendor stores those rates: hardcoded values quietly go stale, dated rate tables can be corrected when a schedule changes.

Annual leave tiers by years of service, sick and hospitalisation caps, maternity and paternity, and public holidays that differ by state. If leave is a separate spreadsheet, it will drift from payroll.
